In 2024, a Californian family was tidying up their mother's house when, among dusty boxes and old shelves, they made a discovery that would drive any collector wild: a copy of Superman No. 1 from 1939, one of the very first comics dedicated to the Man of Steel.

The comic had been stored for decades, forgotten in a corner, among old magazines and family photographs. No one imagined that this copy would become the most expensive ever sold at auction.
In November 2025, during the auction organized by Heritage Auctions, the copy was sold for 9.12 million dollars, setting a world record for a comic at public auction.
