🎸 Did you know Zucchero became a Disney duck?
Not everyone knows that in 2020 the Disney world welcomed one of the biggest names in Italian music. That's right: Zucchero "Sugar" Fornaciari officially entered Duckburg, becoming a comic book character in issue 3358 of Topolino, released on newsstands on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
🎤 From Zucchero to SugarDuck
For the occasion, the singer-songwriter became SugarDuck, a duck with an unmistakable look who appears on the cover alongside his favorite Disney character: Scrooge McDuck. The two are protagonists of a fun role reversal, a true "duet" between music and comics.
The cover – highly sought after by collectors today – was created by the pencil of cartoonist Alessandro Perina, with colors by Valeria Turati.
📖 Not just comics: an exclusive interview too
Inside the weekly magazine, published by Panini Comics, there is also a long interview conducted by Toporeporter Filippo. Zucchero talks about his childhood in Roncocesi, his first steps in music, and reflects on profound themes such as happiness, dreams, and the need for authenticity.
There is also a reference to his album D.O.C. and the single "La canzone che se ne va", described by the artist as a true anthem to hope and the power of shared singing.
✏️ Zucchero stars in three Disney stories
The collaboration doesn't stop at the cover: Zucchero also stars in three unpublished comic strips, written by Francesca Agrati and once again drawn by Alessandro Perina.
The stories see him dealing with:
- the genuine life on Grandma Duck's farm
- a hilarious "duck-ified" autobiography written by Gyro Gearloose
